It's been a while since I have updated this blog.  The garden was a tomato year.  Lots of pints of tomatoes were canned and put up in the pantry.  New raised beds have been added and just need to be filled.

The studio has been rearranged to have better feng shui.  Better flow and movement in the studio.  Very creative students who have inspired an challenged me this year.  Thursday class is full but Tuesday is open.

I've added Blue, Pink, Lavender and Aubergine colored clays.  A whole new avenue to explore while playing with colored clays.

The studio has been enjoying the warmer weather, but here comes cooler weather again!  The greenhouse is full of sprouting seedlings and I even have a few small tomato plants out into the main garden.  Planting flowers around the studio makes it at least look like Spring!

Sending out a new flyer to get new students.  Looking for new inspired students who want to create beautiful pieces. Come join the fun!

Brrrr... it's been cold this winter.  Only rain and a few snow flurries but no snow to show. Nice and warm while the propane heater is keeping us warm.

I have two flats of flowers sprouting in the greenhouse.  Looking for Spring to finally get here. In the studio, I have stocked up a variety of clay bodies for working with.  A variety of colors from black to a soft white.  Let's see what we can create!

November

November 8, 2023

November is here and so is the weather.  The biggest issue I have is to get all the projects to dry so they can be bisqued.  The classes are full and very creative.  I am blessed with such loving and creative students!

The garden is slowing down.  I have a volunteer tomatoe plant in the greenhouse.  It will be interesting to see how long it will last in the coming winter months.  Time to get the soil prept for the Spring.  I have my seed catalogs and am dreaming already!

Well.... inflation has hit the price of clay!   I've sold my clay for $20 for almost 15 years and now.... it's $30!   Change is constant!  Fall is arriving.... I've put up a new lighted and tented area for work. My students are beginning to make items for gifts and so many of the students are really getting good on the "scary" wheel!  😊

March 30, 2023

March is almost gone... hopefully taking the snow with it!  Humidity has been an issue getting all the finished work into a bisque fire.  I did some rearranging and the studio flows much better now. A new sink and clay trap will be installed soon. I am ready to open up more spots in the Tuesday and Thursday classes.  Time for Spring to finally get here!

Getting ready to build my greenhouse kit.  I have all the ground just about level. The snow peas and spinach are up even in these cold snowy days!

February 12, 2023

Here it is February already!  The studio has been staying busy. I purchased a great propane heater so we are toasty in class.  My students are all very talented and creative.  Not all the students want to work on the wheel so they are hand building and even doing some sculpture.   We are all looking forward to some warmer and dryer weather!  It takes too long for the projects to dry! But I am drying everything out in the kiln a little at a time!

Found some cool textures and interesting rolling pins to create with.  Can't wait to start planning and planting the garden! I purchased a greenhouse but I need to clear a flat area so I can build it....ahh...so fun to have dreams!   Happy Potting!

Thunder and lightening storm with lots of wind last night.  Rain coming all day again.  It's getting pretty hard to get the pottery to completely dry!   The kiln is almost full and I have been running it for about 30 minutes on low to help dry out the items.  It's making it a long process.

The garden has been cleaned out and I planted some cold crops.  Spring is ever in my soul!

Christmas is almost here. It's been very cold in the studio but the purchase of a propane heater has warmed us all up!  Such creative students making gifts for their families.  One student is doing sculptures while another is taking on mugs and handles.  I introduced glaze crayons and it was a hit!  I am blessed for sure!

The garden has gone to sleep.  All the old dead has been pulled out and partially rototilled. I'm already looking at my seed catalog and making garden dreams!  The Earth sure does ground me.

October 26, 2022

October is almost gone....the studio is getting darker at night and colder.  Winter is reaching down to blanket my world. It is a welcome feeling....a slowing down....a reflective time.   My students are amazing me with their creativity and commitment to imagination and showing no fear!   The garden has slowed down and it's time to take care of some of the Oak trees that are leaning and waiting for heavy snows.  My next project is thinking about heating the studio in the coming winter months.  Namaste!
