My studio is located in beautiful Jackson, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode. The studio is in the garage and side covered patio of my home. My home sits high on a hill overlooking the city of Jackson. On clear days I can see Lake Commanche and Mount Diablo. It is about an hour to drive to Sacramento from Jackson. I have 5 electric wheels, one wooden kick wheel, a slab roller and a large electric kiln. Cone 5-6 glazes are used with all the earthenware that is created.
Glazes
Over 200 glazes are available in the studio. Most of the glazes are from Minnesota Clay USA. There are a few from Amaco and Coyote. All glazes are fired at cone 5 or 6. Most glazes are glossy and a few are matte.

An Alchemist is a person who practices alchemy.....which is someone who transforms something through a seemingly magical process.
While living in Idaho back in 1976, I was taking all kinds of art classes at Idaho State University because I wanted to become an artist. I drug my feet about taking ceramic classes since I really didn't want to get dirty from all the clay and mud. I finally ran out of options and took a class in clay. As soon as I sat down at the wooden kick wheel and placed the clay on the wheel....I was hooked. I have been playing with clay now for about 45 years. When I lived in Riverside, California I owned and operated Casamariposa Arts Studio where I taught ceramic classes two days a week. I have many fellow students that have started their own studio and still working with clay. I closed that studio after 14 years of business to move to Jackson.
Types of ceramics
Most of my pottery is functional. I've made dinnerware, ceramic signs, plant hangers, windchimes, ornaments, jewlery, and anything else I can imagine. I have even used glass in some of my projects.
